Enjoy
the warm, friendly atmosphere of a family-run hotel,
right in the heart of Pierowall village.... |
 |
Jean
and John James Fergus have run the Pierowall Hotel since 1983, assisted
by their
daughter Ann and husband Kevin Rendall. The hotel was extensively refurbished
in 1997, giving
more facilities for guests and vastly improving the quality of accommodation
for the island.
The
Pierowall Hotel is centrally placed for exploring two unique islands.
The ferry comes in at Rapness pier in the south of the island. For foot
passengers the island bus meets every ferry and stops outside the hotel.
If you want to go over to Papay for a day out, The Golden Mariana leaves
from Gill Pier just across the bay.
For
guests wishing to explore the island, we can arrange for a guided tour
to pick you up from the hotel and return you for your meals here, or
you could take a packed lunch with you. As
a special treat why not take a flight on the plane to Papay for
the world's shortest scheduled flight, as recorded in the Guinness Book
of Records.

However
you want to spend your time here on Westray birdwatching, walking,
exploring or even swimming, we guarantee you will enjoy your stay at
the Pierowall Hotel, in the heart of the village.
|
The
view from the Pierowall Hotel is of the sea, with Papa Westray in
the near distance. On those hot sunny days in summer when Orkney is
at its best, you can sit outside listening to the gentle lapping of
the waves while you enjoy a drink from the bar or a quiet cup of tea
with some Westray shortbread.
Of
course as everyone knows, the weather can change very quickly in Orkney,
but you will find the welcome here is always warm. Come inside and
relax and chat before you go out for that walk. You'll find there's
never enough time to do or see everything when you come to Westray
Queen o the Isles.

Our
rooms are comfortably furnished and our food is all home cooked. Four
of
our rooms are en-suite, one with private bathroom, and all rooms have
a colour TV, tea and coffee-making
facilities. Pictured below are two en-suite bedrooms.

The
Pierowall Hotel is known throughout Orkney for the freshness of its
seafood and is famed for serving the best fish and chips in the isles.
In tandem with the hotel, a complementary business, Pierowall Fish,
is run by John James and Kevin Rendall from the hotel premises, supplying
fresh fish
to hotels
and businesses throughout Orkney.
We
are open all year round, so don't forget us in the winter; when Scotland
is freezing, the Gulf Stream keeps us that little bit warmer
and the coal fire in the lounge will also bring a glow to your cheeks!
