QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Q.
What day do we start diving?
A. The dive week
normally runs from Sunday (am) to Friday (pm). The boat accommodation is
available from 2pm Saturday and has to be vacated by 9am the following Saturday.
Q. How many divers
can you cater for?
A. We can cater
for up to 12 divers
Q. Do you supply tanks
and weights and at what cost?
A. Tanks and weights
are no extra cost. We have 12 x 12L Standard Steel Tanks, there is only
a limited supply of weights - check on booking.
Q. What would be the
minimum qualification for divers coming to Scapa Flow?
A. There are suitable
wrecks and sites for the novice to advanced technical divers.
Q. What are the best
dates to dive Scapa Flow and what is the average water temperature?
A. We can find
something for you to dive on all year - but we'd advise a drysuit for the
winter! Water temperature, 4-5 degreesC in April, increasing to an average
12-14 degreesC by September.
HOW TO GET TO ORKNEY:
BY AIR
British Airways and Loganair fly daily scheduled services to Kirkwall Airport (except Sunday) from London, Birmingham, Manchester,Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Inverness and Wick.
BY SEA
P&O Ferries operate a daily roll-on/roll-off car ferry from Scrabster near Thurso including Sundays in summer and weekly from Aberdeen and Shetland to Stromness.
BY ROAD
Head North using the motorway system for the A9. The roads to Thurso are well signposted.
