The Jetty at Tingwall is the departure point for the islands of Rousay,
Egilsay, and Wyre. The ferry runs several times a day - it is necessary
to book in advance if a vehicle is to be taken across. On the shore there
is a mound which marks the site of a broch.
The RSPB reserve at Cottascarth is a good place to see Orkney's birds of
prey - the Hen Harrier, Kestrel, Merlin, and day flying Short Eared Owl.
At the Hall of Rendall is the Doocot (dovecote). This building is unique
in Orkney, and has been recently restored.
